Terms of Use & Privacy Policy for Patients

The following Privacy Policy provides complete details about how we collect, receive and use information about you when you visit our website, and/or when you register with DigiScripts™ and create an account. It’s important that you fully understand your relationship with us because you agree to the terms of this Policy by visiting our website or by registering for our services.

We (and, sometimes “us,” meaning DigiScripts™ LLC and its affiliates) receive information from and about you in three ways: (I) we receive it from all of the devices you use to access our website, and/or from services you may use to connect to us, (II) we receive it from collection technology such as beacons or cookies, and (III) you provide it to us directly when you register, email us or participate in a promotion.

VISITING OUR WEBSITE AND OUR USE OF COOKIES

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Most web browsers allow some control of cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

First-Party Cookies
DigiScripts™, like most Internet-based firms, uses different kinds of “cookies” to improve our service and to make your browsing experience and use of our marketing website more user-friendly. In general, a “first-party cookie” is a file written by our servers to your hard drive containing an alphanumeric identifier that we use to manage and report on your interaction with us. A first-party cookie can be either a “session cookie” or a “persistent cookie.” Session cookies expire automatically when you close your browser, but persistent cookies remain on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You may control the use of persistent cookies through your browser’s tools or help sections, but your rejection of the use of first-party cookies may limit your full use and enjoyment of the DigiScripts™ website.

If you do nothing other than read pages or download information from www.digiscripts.com, we will capture and store some information about your visit. This information will not identify you, and relates to:

  • the internet domain (such as www.google.com) and anonymized IP address from which you access the website
  • the type of browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and operating system you use (Windows, Mac OS, UNIX)
  • the date and time of your visit
  • the pages you visit
  • track your return visits to our website, and
  • identify the page or site that referred you to DigiScripts™ (if applicable).

This information is not shared with anyone and we do not merge this information with other data. We use this information to help improve our service.

Third-Party Cookies
On some pages we embed video such as YouTube or provide links to popular social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.  These services may set cookies on your device.  These firms use third-party cookies to collect information about you including the number of times that you have seen an ad, whether you interacted with it, and to provide you with interest-based ads. You may control the use of third-party cookies using your browser’s tools or help sections, but we have no access to or control over third-party cookies placed on your hard drive by advertisers or third-party advertising partners. These cookies are beyond the control of DigiScripts™ LLC.

Beacons and Tracking Pixels
“Beacons” or “tracking pixels” are one-pixel by one-pixel images embedded on HTML content used by DigiScripts™ or third-party advertising partners. The images are tiny (about the size of a period at the end of a sentence) and are used to transmit anonymous information to servers such as numeric count, unique identifier or IP address. We or our advertising partners use beacons and tracking pixels to manage content on our website to learn, for example, how many unique visitors have visited our website. Some of the third parties, such as Google® may provide customization and/or opt-out of certain Tracking Mechanisms through their respective sites.

OTHER WEBSITES

Other Websites’ Links
Some ads on our website may include links to other websites that we do not control and whose privacy policies may be more lenient than those outlined in this Policy; our privacy notice only relates to information that we obtain from you. If you visit a website operated by a third party through a link included on this website, your information may be used differently by the operator of the linked website. If you submit personal information to these websites, the privacy statements and/or terms and policies of these websites will control their use of your personal information. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the policies of any website you visit.

Anonymized Aggregated Data
DigiScripts™ may use anonymized, non-personally identifiable information aggregated from your and other users’ information to share with third parties, advertising and business partners. This information may include de-identified demographic data, information about the devices from which DigiScripts™ is accessed, and de-identified location information. We may use this information to analyze usage patterns, improve your user experience, and improve ad serving or other similar purposes.

REGISTRATION WITH DIGISCRIPTS™

Registration with DigiScripts™ allows us to identify you personally, i.e. we collect personally identifiable information (PII). This information is used exclusively for the provision of our service(s) to you, and we make every effort to ensure that the information we collect about you cannot be accessed by unauthorized third parties under any circumstances, including its use to spam or target you for viruses or other types of malware.

DigiScripts™ collects personal information because of our official role as the safe haven for patient health data in Jamaica’s private sector, and as part of our normal business process. The manner in which DigiScripts™ collects, maintains, and processes your information is highly secure and meets legal and best practice requirements locally and internationally. This document is about the personal information we may collect about you as part of our normal business. We want you to understand why we hold and process this information, and your choices.

HOW DIGISCRIPTS™ USES PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

In General
In the case of registered users, we may use your registration information and other data we collect about you (or some combination of date and/or information we can extrapolate from the totality of date and/or information we gather about you) and use it as follows to:

  • (a) create and facilitate your personal “account” with us so that you can access the services we provide,
  • (b) use tracking data and aggregate user demographics to analyze and measure application and website usage and patterns to continuously build and/or improve your service experience,
  • (c) send you information (including emails about prescription or test information, as well as information about support and maintenance activities) that you have previously agreed to receive.

DigiScripts™ will never give or sell a user’s email address to other companies or persons for their own marketing purposes. However, we may use your email address in the event that we need to inform you about technical issues, service updates or other information that you have previously agreed to receive.

Under normal circumstances, DigiScripts™ will never share your personally identifiable information with third parties other than to:

  • (a) facilitate the transmission of a medical document such as a prescription, lab request, or imaging request, or
  • (b) facilitate the formal referral to another member of the health team, whose input is directly relevant to the management of your case.

There are rare cases, however, where we may share personally identifiable information, such as if we need to:

  • (c) comply with the law, legal proceedings or court orders,
  • (d) protect against fraud or facilitate risk management,
  • (e) ensure the safety or security of DigiScripts™ users or even members of the general public in extenuating or urgent circumstances, or
  • (f) protect and defend the legal and contractual rights of DigiScripts™ or the legal rights of our business affiliates.
DATA INTEGRITY, PROTECTION, AND LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

No user’s personally identifiable information will ever be used by us for purposes not specifically outlined in this Policy. We will take all reasonable measures to ensure that all of your personally identifiable information collected, processed or stored is protected from corruption, misuse or destruction and is always used solely for the purpose it was collected.

CORPORATE MERGER, REORGANIZATION, OR SALE

In the event that DigiScripts™ enters into a corporate merger, reorganization or sale, we may be required to share your data, including any personally identifiable information, with our successor in interest. Should this occur, we will request that any potential recipients of onwardly transferred personally identifiable information must agree, prior to such transfer, to contractually protect your information with confidentiality and non-disclosure clauses, and to commit to the same or similar level of protection of your information as provided in this Policy.

SMS Messages, EMAILS & BULLETINS

Once you register and provide us with an email address as part of that process, you may receive emails from DigiScripts™ from time to time. This will happen, for instance, after you are seen by a physician and have a prescription or lab/imaging request written: the email will contain a locator code, so that you will always be able to provide access to the information to whichever pharmacy or laboratory/imaging center you choose. Additionally, you may receive an email or SMS message alert when your results become available, or to remind you about an upcoming appointment.

We have made the decision to send these operational emails and bulletins, after consideration of compliance under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), because the information we send is important and helps manage and maintain your health, and we consider this legitimate interest.

Every email you receive will have an option on it to remove yourself (unsubscribe) from the list. If you get emails that you do not want, email us at info@digiscripts.com or call us at (876) 838-6448 or (876) 880-6558 and tell us what you want to unsubscribe from, and we will remove you from that list.

Whether you register directly with us or an affiliate, or through social media, we do not pass your email address to any third parties.
